Tom Moore, a stalwart figure in the NFL coaching community, has announced his retirement from his position as an offensive consultant for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This decision comes after an illustrious career spanning 62 years, including nearly five decades within the NFL.

The 87-year-old coach will step away to care for his wife, Willie, who recently suffered a stroke. Moore expressed his commitment to his family, stating, “It’s time for me to go home and take care of my wife. For 62 years, she made a lot of sacrifices so I could live a dream, and now it’s about Willie.”

Throughout his remarkable career, Moore has had the privilege of working with several prestigious NFL teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, New Orleans Saints, Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, and, of course, the Buccaneers. He served as an offensive coordinator at many of these stops, playing a pivotal role in significant successes, particularly during his tenure in the 1980s with the Steelers and during the peak years of Peyton Manning’s record-setting performances with the Colts.

During his extensive time in the league, Moore collected four Super Bowl rings, celebrating championships with the Steelers, Colts, and Buccaneers. His gratitude was evident in his farewell message, as he praised his experiences and the individuals he worked with, including the Glazers, the Buccaneers’ owners, general manager Jason Licht, and head coach Todd Bowles. “It’s a tough business. I’ve been blessed,” he remarked.

As Tom Moore turns the page to focus on his family, he leaves behind a legacy of excellence and a deep impact on the players and coaches he has influenced throughout his storied career. His decision underscores the importance of personal priorities, showing that even after decades of dedication to the game, family remains paramount.
