Tom Daley Bids Farewell: A Diving Legend’s Final Dive

Tom Daley of Great Britain has officially announced his retirement from diving, concluding a remarkable career that includes one Olympic gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.

In an interview with British Vogue, Daley reflected on the pressure and expectations throughout his career. He shared, “I was eager for it to be done. But when I walked out and saw my husband, kids, and my friends and family in the audience, I thought, you know what? This is exactly why I did this.”

He described the emotional moment on the platform as he prepared for his final competitive dive, saying, “It’s the right time to call it a day.”

Daley made his Olympic debut at the young age of 14 during the Beijing 2008 Games and has become one of Britain’s most beloved athletes. He recently secured a silver medal in the synchronized 10m platform event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

“It feels very, very surreal,” he remarked. “I felt so incredibly nervous going into this, knowing it was my last Olympics.”

His gold medal achievement came at the Tokyo 2020 Games, where he performed alongside Matty Lee. In addition to his diving prowess, the 30-year-old has gained fame for his knitting activities at the poolside during the last two Olympic Games.
