Tito Jackson, Iconic Jackson 5 Member, Passes Away at 70

Tito Jackson, a founding member of the iconic Jackson 5 and brother of the late Michael Jackson, has passed away at the age of 70, according to reports from US media. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed. Tito was performing with his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael, who died in 2009, as part of the legendary group.

Steve Manning, a long-time family friend and former manager, confirmed that Tito died on Monday. His three sons, Taj, Taryll, and TJ, also shared the news on Instagram, expressing their shock and grief. “We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken,” they wrote. “Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being.” They added that he would be deeply missed and reminded followers to embrace their father’s message of love.

The Jackson 5, formed in 1964, was known for numerous hits, including “ABC,” “The Love You Save,” and “I Want You Back,” selling over 150 million records globally. The group received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1980 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

Tito was last seen performing at the Fool in Love Festival in California on August 31, alongside his brothers. Tributes poured in on social media, with former Jackson 5 drummer Jonathan Moffett expressing his sorrow, stating he was “stunned, devastated and speechless.” Tito Jackson was the third oldest sibling among the nine Jacksons and also had a solo career as a blues musician, achieving chart success with his 2016 single, “Get It Baby.”
