The Tennessee Titans’ starting quarterback, Will Levis, did not return for the team’s third drive during their game against Miami on Monday, following an apparent injury to his throwing shoulder.
Levis sustained the injury while trying to gain yards on a scramble during Tennessee’s second drive. He was visibly in pain while throwing on the sideline, as captured by the “Monday Night Football” broadcast. When the Titans regained possession with 4:14 remaining in the first half, Mason Rudolph took over as quarterback.
Before his exit, Levis had thrown an interception and connected on three of his four pass attempts. Rudolph’s entry shifted the game dynamics, as both teams were now led by backup quarterbacks. Tyler Huntley was making his tenth career start for the Dolphins in place of Tua Tagovailoa, who was out due to a head injury. Huntley had a turnover when a backward pass was mishandled, resulting in a fumble recovered by the Titans.
Titans head coach Brian Callahan did not confirm who would start at quarterback for the second half. He stated, “we’ll see,” indicating that the decision would hinge on Levis’s readiness to play.
As the third quarter began, Levis was seen on the sidelines wearing his helmet, but Callahan chose to continue with Rudolph, who ultimately guided the team to a 31-12 victory.
