Tina Charles Makes Spectacular Comeback: What’s Next for the Sun?

Tina Charles made her much-anticipated return to the Connecticut Sun on Sunday, stepping onto the court for the first time in a Sun jersey since 2013. The MVP’s comeback came during the opening game of the 2025 WNBA season against the Washington Mystics at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Charles’ impressive career began after she was selected as the overall No. 1 pick in the 2010 WNBA Draft by the Sun. She played three successful seasons with the franchise before moving on to the New York Liberty and later the Washington Mystics. After a stint with the Phoenix Mercury in 2022, where the team faced challenges in title contention, Charles briefly played for the Seattle Storm. Following a year away due to personal reasons, she made her return to the league in 2024 with the Atlanta Dream before rejoining the Sun.

In her comeback game against the Mystics, Charles exhibited her skill by recording a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. However, despite her strong performance, the Sun fell short in a closely contested match, losing 90–85. The excitement surrounding her return was palpable, with the Sun’s official social media account celebrating her presence with the statement, “she’s back like she never left.”

Fans and teammates alike are optimistic about what the rest of the season holds for Charles and the Sun as they continue to build their team dynamics. Her experience and talent are sure to be a key asset as the season unfolds.

As the Connecticut Sun gears up for future matchups, the hope is that Charles’ return will rejuvenate the team’s chances for a successful season and inspire young players within the organization.
