Heisman Trophy winner and prominent television analyst Tim Tebow recently shared insights about his latest work, a children’s book titled “If the Tree Could Speak.” The inspiration for this book emerged from a thought-provoking question: What would the cross that crucified Jesus say if it had a voice?

This question led to a narrative that retells the story of Jesus’ crucifixion from a unique viewpoint. The book, illustrated by Rommel Ruiz, begins with the tree as a seed that aspires to have a grand purpose, dreaming of becoming a door, a table, or perhaps a throne. According to Tebow, the tree hears tales about a carpenter who is widely admired and hopes to be transformed into a masterpiece by him. However, the tree’s dreams are crushed when it is cut down to become a cross, which the tree views as a symbol of shame and punishment meant for criminals.

The narrative takes a transformative turn when the cross encounters Jesus. Tebow describes the poignant moment when the cross expresses its wish to tell the world about Jesus’ love amidst mockery and derision. In this exchange, Jesus encourages the cross by stating that its purpose is to elevate Him, emphasizing that others, including the disciples and spectators, have the responsibility to spread His message.

Tebow articulates that through Jesus, the once-despised cross is given new significance. “What God has done with the cross—once a symbol of shame—now represents hope worldwide,” he explains. He reflects on the powerful message that God can transform suffering into a purpose-driven life, a theme that resonates throughout the story of the cross as well as in individual lives.

Aside from his literary endeavors, Tebow remains a celebrated figure in sports, having won two national championships and the Heisman Trophy during his tenure at the University of Florida before pursuing a career in the NFL. He now serves as a football analyst on ESPN, and his advocacy is rooted in his deep Christian faith.

Tebow expresses optimism regarding the growing movement of God among college students, exemplified by the Unite US movement, which has attracted over 140,000 participants to worship events within a span of three years. He notes a significant shift in priorities among young people, who are beginning to recognize the importance of inner self over social media validation.

“Christianity is not just an enhancement to your average life; it’s a relationship that can profoundly transform you,” Tebow asserts. He believes this quest for genuine purpose and meaning is best found in Jesus, providing a hopeful outlook on the current spiritual awakening among the youth. Through his narrative and personal advocacy, Tebow aims to inspire others to embrace the transformative power of faith.
