Tim Burton’s “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman” Remake Sparks Excitement

Tim Burton is reportedly in discussions to direct a remake of the classic film “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman” for Warner Bros., with a script penned by Gillian Flynn. The film’s premise revolves around a wealthy heiress who, after encountering an alien, undergoes a transformation into a giant, leading her to seek revenge on her unfaithful husband.

Margot Robbie, known for her standout role in “Barbie,” is said to be in “early conversations” to take on the lead role. If Robbie commits to the project, she will also serve as a producer through her production company, LuckyChap Entertainment. This collaboration would mark a reunion between Robbie and Burton following their successful ventures with “Barbie” and “Beetlejuice,” both of which had significant success for Warner Bros. in recent years.

The original “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman,” released in 1958 and directed by Nathan Hertz, has been a subject of interest for remakes over the decades. Though multiple attempts have been made, only one was realized—a television version for HBO in 1993 featuring Darryl Hannah. The film’s theme has resonated broadly, inspiring references and parodies in various pop culture works, including contributions from artists like Beyoncé and Lana Del Rey. In popular animation, DreamWorks featured a character reminiscent of the original concept with Ginormica, a giant woman in “Monsters vs. Aliens.”

As the project develops, more details regarding the film and its production will be forthcoming, offering fans of both classic cinema and modern adaptations something to look forward to.
