Arizona State University’s football team is set to showcase a special tribute to the late Pat Tillman during their upcoming game against West Virginia on Saturday. The Sun Devils will wear unique uniforms that feature an homage to the ASU and Arizona Cardinals legend, who is honored for his courageous service after leaving the NFL.
The team’s attire will consist of white pants paired with maroon jerseys, distinguished by gold-colored numbers. A notable feature of the game will be the white helmets adorned with a maroon “PT42” logo, along with a striking maroon and gold stripe running down the center, symbolizing Tillman’s legacy.
Pat Tillman is revered not just as an athlete, but also as a hero who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the Army after the 2001 season, tragically losing his life in a friendly fire incident in 2004. Arizona State has consistently recognized Tillman’s contributions, having previously donned the “PT-42” helmets during a matchup against UCF last season.
In their last home game against Houston on October 25, ASU sported eye-catching black and gold uniforms with a unique gold helmet featuring a black pitchfork design.
Football fans can catch the Arizona State-West Virginia game live at Mountain America Stadium, beginning at 11 a.m. The game will also be broadcast on 98.7 and available through the Arizona Sports app, with coverage on TNT.
This tribute not only celebrates Tillman’s athletic achievements but also his enduring spirit of bravery and sacrifice, promising an emotionally resonant experience for players and fans alike as they gather to honor a true American hero.
