Tigres UANL has secured a significant signing, reaching an agreement with Argentine forward Ángel Correa, who will join the club after the Atlético de Madrid’s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup. This marks another international sensation for Mexican football, as Correa is set to debut in Liga MX for the Apertura 2025 season, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of André-Pierre Gignac’s arrival at the club.
As reported by Sergio Treviño, Tigres has successfully negotiated a deal with Atlético de Madrid for around 10 million euros, resulting in a five-year contract for Correa. This transfer underscores the club’s commitment to strengthening their attacking lineup and succeeding in upcoming competitions.
Correa, who is 30 years old, is currently competing in the Club World Cup with Atlético, a team he has been with since 2015, following his successful start at San Lorenzo. During his time in Europe, he has made 467 appearances, scoring 88 goals and providing 65 assists, contributing to his team’s triumphs, including La Liga, Europa League, and Supercopa de Europa titles. Additionally, he boasts an impressive resume that includes being a World Cup and Copa América champion with Argentina.
Tigres aims to complement their legacy and further their ambitions with this high-profile signing. With Gignac remaining a key figure despite recent injury issues, the team’s leadership is determined to bolster its squad, ensuring a competitive edge for the upcoming season. Correa’s arrival not only enhances the team’s offensive capabilities but also brings a wealth of international experience to Liga MX. This move is seen as a hopeful sign for Tigres fans, as they anticipate a strong performance in the future.
