Tigres explore lineup shake-up ahead of San Luis clash

Tigres continues its preparations for the final match of the regular season, as manager Guido Pizarro deliberates on potential tweaks to his starting lineup ahead of the game against San Luis. This decision is particularly crucial as three key players are at risk of missing the Liguilla kick-off due to accumulating four yellow cards should they receive another booking this Saturday.

The players under scrutiny include Ángel Correa, who boasts six goals and four assists, Juan Brunetta with eight goals and three assists, and Ozziel Herrera, who has contributed four goals and one assist. Given this situation, Pizarro is considering resting these players by having them start from the bench, providing a chance for fresh legs if necessary.

Additionally, there’s a possibility that Nicolás Ibáñez and Sebastián Córdova, who have recently been absent from the matchday squad, might be included in the lineup, although final decisions will likely be made after the team’s last training session on Friday.

As for the anticipated starting eleven against San Luis, it is likely to feature Nahuel Guzmán in goal; a defensive line of Javier Aquino, Joaquim Pereira, Jesús Angulo, and Marco; with Fernando Gorriarán and Bernardo Parra forming a double pivot in midfield. Diego Lainez and Diego Sánchez are expected to play as attacking midfielders, while Juan Pablo Vigón and André Pierre Gignac will lead the attack.

Gignac is confirmed to start, likely taking Herrera’s place, while Parra, who also needs to accumulate minutes to meet league regulations, may begin alongside Gorriarán, but could be substituted in the second half to ensure he reaches the necessary playing time.

Other players such as Marcelo Flores and Rafael Guerrero are also on the radar and may factor into the game at various points.

Tigres will hold its final training session on Friday at the Estadio Universitario, where Guido Pizarro is set to address the media following the practice. This last preparation is crucial for the team’s momentum as they aim to secure a strong position heading into the playoffs.
