Tigers Gear Up for Key Showdown Against Roadrunners Before Conference Play

The Pacific men’s soccer team, which has conceded just two goals in its last four matches, will host CSU Bakersfield for its final preparation before conference play. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Knoles Field. The Tigers (2-2-2) have an unbeaten streak of four games against the Roadrunners (2-2-2) since 2019, bringing their all-time record against CSU Bakersfield to 4-2-1.

Head coach emphasized the importance of the matchup, stating, “Another important match against a Big West team that has some good results on the year. We understand what we need to do and will need to execute better. The emotion is there and has to be high playing at home just before conference play begins.”

Fifth-year player leads the team with two goals scored from three shots on target, while junior leads in shots on goal with seven, maintaining a consistent offensive presence in all six games this season. Senior goalkeeper has been a standout performer, maintaining an impressive .865 save percentage, along with a .83 goals against average and three shutouts across six starts, ranking first among West Coast Conference goalkeepers for save percentage, shutouts, and saves per game (5.33).

Both junior and senior have played every minute of the six contests thus far, with Baltzer recently scoring a penalty kick that equalized the game in a 1-1 draw against Sacramento State last Sunday. Likewise, the Roadrunners boast a balanced record, securing victories against Utah Tech and then-No. 18 Portland, and their latest game resulted in a 1-1 draw with Gonzaga.
