The Pacific men’s soccer team, which has allowed only two goals in its last four matches, is set to face CSU Bakersfield for its final preseason match before the start of conference play. The game will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Knoles Field. The Tigers, currently holding a record of 2-2-2, have not lost to the Roadrunners since 2019 and maintain an all-time record of 4-2-1 against them.
Head coach emphasized the significance of the upcoming match against a Big West team that has shown potential this season. He noted the importance of executing their game plan effectively, especially with the added motivation of playing at home just before the conference schedule begins.
Fifth-year player currently leads the team with two goals from three shots on target, while junior player has the highest number of shots on goal at seven, managing to take at least one shot in each of the first six games. Senior goalkeeper has been a standout, maintaining a strong presence in goal with a .865 save percentage, .83 goals against average, and three shutouts across six starts. His performance has positioned him at the top among West Coast Conference goalkeepers in these categories.
Both junior and senior players have been vital for Pacific, playing every minute of the season thus far. Baltzer recently scored a penalty kick that helped secure a 1-1 draw against Sacramento State in their last outing.
Like the Tigers, the Roadrunners also hold a .500 record, with victories over Utah Tech and then-ranked No. 18 Portland. In their latest match, CSUB played to a 1-1 draw against Gonzaga.
