Thunderstorms are expected to develop across central to northeast Nebraska on Saturday night, with areas around Norfolk, Columbus, Tekamah, and Fremont potentially experiencing storm activity. While the majority of the region may remain dry, those in the path of the storms should be prepared for gusty winds, although flooding is less of a concern than in previous weather forecasts. Rainfall from these storms could be heavy where it does occur, although overall rainfall amounts are expected to average between 0.25 inches and 0.50 inches, with isolated spots possibly receiving up to an inch.

Looking ahead to Sunday, the day will likely begin warm, muggy, and partly sunny, with temperatures rising to around 90 degrees. As the afternoon progresses, showers and thunderstorms will increase in frequency, with some of these storms having the potential to become severe, bringing large hail and damaging winds. The storm activity is expected to diminish overnight, allowing for a relatively calm commute on Monday morning.

The start of the week will bring a change in weather, with Monday featuring mostly sunny skies, slightly cooler temperatures in the mid-80s north of Omaha, and upper 80s to the south. Tuesday will continue this trend of sunny skies, maintaining highs in the upper 80s, followed by a warming trend that could push temperatures back to near 90 degrees by Wednesday and into the low 90s on Thursday.

As the nation prepares for the July 4th holiday, there is the possibility of rain on both Friday and Saturday, but overall, forecasts indicate a warmer 4th of July compared to last year, with high temperatures expected to near 90 degrees.

Residents are encouraged to share their weather pictures with local news outlets as significant weather patterns unfold this weekend.
