In a tragic incident in Hyderabad, a three-year-old boy named Arjun Kumar drowned after accidentally falling into a swimming pool at the Vertex Prime Gated Community in Hydernagar on Sunday morning. The unfortunate event occurred around 9:30 am while Arjun was playing on the premises.
According to the KPHB police, the child’s parents, who reside in Chinthal, had left him at his grandparents’ home while they traveled out of town for the holidays. At the time of the incident, Arjun’s grandmother had gone to a nearby market, and his grandfather believed that the child was with her. This confusion led to the child’s movements going unnoticed, allowing him to wander around the community and ultimately fall into the pool.
Residents later discovered Arjun in the water and quickly alerted his family. He was rushed to a private hospital in Nizampet, where medical staff attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but sadly, he could not be revived and was pronounced dead.
In response to the incident, police have registered a case against the management and security staff of the society under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses causing death through negligent acts. The investigation aims to clarify the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
Arjun’s parents have voiced their concerns over the apparent negligence of the apartment management, noting the absence of caretakers or security personnel near the swimming pool at the time of the incident. They highlighted the lack of safety measures and inadequate supervision within the residential complex, expressing their deep anguish over the tragedy.
This heartbreaking event underscores the importance of safety protocols in residential communities, particularly regarding children’s safety around pools. Communities may need to reassess their security measures and increase supervision near potentially dangerous areas to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. The hope remains that through awareness and action, such tragedies can be avoided.
