Three Fiji youngsters earn first call-up for MSG Prime Minister’s Cup

Three emerging talents in Fijian football—Neemish Prasad from Rewa, Asivorosi Rabo from Asivoru, and Ryan Naresh from Ba—have received their first call-up to the expanded 38-member national squad ahead of the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup taking place in Papua New Guinea next month. Their inclusion comes following impressive performances during the recent Inter-District Championship held in Ba, where they captivated both spectators and fans with their dynamic playing style.

The extended squad is a showcase of diverse talents, featuring 10 players from Rewa FC, 8 from Labasa, 7 from Ba, 4 from Lautoka, and 3 players each from Navua and Nadi. Additionally, 2 players from Suva and 1 from Nadroga round out the selection, highlighting the strong representation from various regions of Fiji.

Assistant coach Marika Rodu, who oversaw the selection process, emphasized the commitment to constructing a competitive team poised to excel in the regional tournament. Fiji has been placed in Group B alongside Vanuatu and PNG Red, setting the stage for an exciting competition.

This initiative to bring fresh faces into the squad is particularly encouraging for the future of Fijian football, as it allows young players to gain invaluable international exposure and experience. The upcoming MSG Prime Minister’s Cup serves not only as a platform for showcasing players’ talents but also as a vital opportunity for fostering growth and unity within the sport across the region.
