Three Fiji Rising Stars Earn First National Call-Up for MSG Prime Minister’s Cup

Three promising young footballers from Fiji—Neemish Prasad of Rewa, Asivorosi Rabo from Asivoru, and Ryan Naresh of Ba—have earned their first call-up to the national squad for the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup scheduled for next month in Papua New Guinea. Their selection follows standout performances at the recent Inter-District Championship held in Ba, where they impressed fans and coaches alike with their dynamic gameplay.

The expanded 38-member squad showcases a rich variety of talent, including 10 players from Rewa FC, 8 from Labasa, 7 from Ba, 4 from Lautoka, and 3 each from Navua and Nadi. Additionally, the team includes 2 players from Suva and 1 from Nadroga, reflecting robust representation from across Fiji.

Assistant coach Marika Rodu, who was integral to the selection process, emphasized the goal of building a competitive team ready to perform at a high level in the regional tournament. Fiji will face a challenging Group B, which includes Vanuatu and PNG Red, heightening the excitement around the upcoming competition.

Incorporating these emerging talents into the national squad is a positive move for the future of Fijian football. It not only provides young players with essential international experience but also fosters growth and unity within the sport throughout the region. The MSG Prime Minister’s Cup promises to be a significant opportunity for these athletes to shine and contribute to the progress of football in Fiji.
