This Week’s Music Release Round-Up: Reissues, Debuts and Fresh Tracks

This week’s Release Round-Up offers an exciting array of new music for collectors and fans, highlighted by some eagerly anticipated first-time releases and reissues. The most notable release is the first-ever reissue of the 1973 album “Buckingham Nicks” by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. This reissue, available on CD, vinyl, and digital formats, marks a significant moment as the album returns to availability after being out of print since its original release. This marks a hopeful thawing in relations between Buckingham and the Fleetwood Mac camp since his dismissal in 2018.

Canadian singer Anne Murray returns with “Here You Are,” a collection of eleven previously unreleased tracks that showcases recordings from as early as the late 70s to the mid-90s, bringing back her distinctive voice to the U.S. audience after more than a decade. Rock band The Cowsills also gains attention with the official debut of their “Cocaine Drain” album. Long considered a hidden gem, this album finally gets a proper release with the inclusion of bonus tracks that fill in some missing pieces of the band’s history.

In a resurgence of classic sounds, Art in America’s self-titled debut from 1983 is reissued with additional tracks and a follow-up album, “Rise,” presenting previously dormant recordings as a treat for fans of progressive rock. Additionally, Jim Croce’s “The Definitive Croce” brings together his work with remastered mixes, offering a fresh listening experience alongside a nostalgic trip through Croce’s celebrated discography.

There’s also a variety of other notable releases. Ray Charles’ album “Ingredients in a Recipe for Soul” is reissued with painstaking remastering, Charley Pride’s tribute to Brook Benton surfaces from the archives, and 38 Special’s “Milestone” brings new rock tunes to the table. Moreover, new work from The Divine Comedy, Nine Inch Nails’ soundtrack for “Tron: Ares,” and the original cast recording from the West End musical “The Devil Wears Prada” provide diverse listening options for various musical tastes.

This week’s releases are noteworthy not only for their quality and long-awaited availability but also for how they cater to the nostalgia of music lovers while introducing newer productions into the mix. This blend of past and present allows fans to revisit beloved classics and discover new favorites simultaneously.
