The upcoming fourth season of “The Witcher” has stirred a mix of excitement and controversy among fans, particularly surrounding a line delivered by Liam Hemsworth’s character, Geralt. In a recently released trailer, Geralt exclaims, “Let’s fucking move!” as he prepares for battle, prompting some fans to express concern over this portrayal of the character. A Reddit post highlighting the line has garnered significant attention, with over 11,000 upvotes noting that “Geralt would never say this.”
Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich responded to the backlash by defending the dialogue as “kick-ass” and appropriate within the context of the scene. In an interview with Radio Times, she stated, “What I think is that line in the context of the battle that we’re in, it makes total sense. It’s also a kick-ass line…you may go, ‘Oh, that’s not what my Geralt would say.’ Well, it is. It’s what our Geralt would say.” Hissrich expressed her eagerness for audiences to experience the full context of the scene, suggesting that the line will resonate more once viewers see it in action.
This season marks Hemsworth’s debut as Geralt, succeeding Henry Cavill in the iconic role. Hissrich explained that Cavill’s departure was a mutual decision, as the actor wanted to explore other opportunities. “You don’t want to hold someone and force them to be doing something that they don’t want to do… it felt like a really symbiotic decision,” she noted.
The fourth installment of “The Witcher” will consist of eight episodes and will introduce new characters to the storyline, including Laurence Fishburne as Regis, Sharlto Copley as Leo Bonhart, and James Purefoy as Stefan Skellen. “The Witcher” season 4 is set to premiere on Netflix on October 30, 2025, offering fans a new chapter in the esteemed fantasy saga.
