Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Ryan Bader, Bas Rutten, and Andre Tricoteux star in the upcoming biographical drama film, “The Smashing Machine,” set to hit theaters in late January 2025. This compelling film dives deep into the life of Mark Kerr, a trailblazing mixed martial arts fighter famed for his achievements in the late 1990s.

“The Smashing Machine” not only highlights Kerr’s rise to fame within the sport but also sheds light on his personal challenges, including battles with addiction and a complicated relationship with his girlfriend, portrayed by Blunt. The film draws inspiration from the 2002 HBO documentary of the same name, which first presented Kerr’s struggles and triumphs to a broader audience.

The film promises an impressive cinematic experience with top-notch technical specifications, featuring a DOLBY VISION/HDR presentation along with a DOLBY ATMOS audio track. Additional content includes a director’s commentary from Benny Safdie, an insightful featurette titled “What It Means to be a Fighter: Making The Smashing Machine,” 16mm camera test footage, deleted scenes, and a set of six collectible postcards. Optional English SDH and Spanish subtitles will also be available.

As anticipation builds for the release of “The Smashing Machine,” audiences can look forward to a moving portrayal of resilience and determination, as well as a powerful reminder of the human side of sports figures often overshadowed by their public personas.
