Disney World’s Pirates of the Caribbean-Themed Beak and Barrel Opens Aug. 29 at Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World Resort is adding The Beak and Barrel, a Pirates of the Caribbean–inspired tavern at Magic Kingdom, with an opening date of August 29. Reservations are available now.

Inside the tavern, guests will encounter The Mess, a hall carved from a pirate-era space that once served Spanish soldiers before it was claimed by an007 crew of pirates. The room features long tables, a candle-covered anchor chandelier, and Mermaid Windows salvaged from a famous pirate ship wreck. A towering skull-shaped bar houses a collection of rare bottles, and a bird named Rummy perches atop the bar, greeting patrons with stories, jokes or songs. Rummy is positioned as the tavern’s quartermaster and bears a resemblance to the original Barker Bird that once greeted guests at the Pirates of the Caribbean entrance.

For a more refined experience, guests can step into the Captains’ Quarters, the former residence of the Spanish Comandante. The space centers around a fireplace framed by grand artwork and draped fabrics, with glass bottles containing miniature ships and four carved wood booths lining the walls. Another area, the Mapmaker’s Room, invites visitors to study rolled maps, parchment, spilled ink and secrets, all surrounding a giant wall map of the known pirating world.

Disney has also teased a menu featuring tropical beverages and deep-sea–themed eats for the new outpost. While details of individual items weren’t fully disclosed, the experience promises an immersive, story-driven dining and drinking space that expands the Pirates of the Caribbean lore within the park.

Important details: advanced reservations are required, and the experience is limited to 45 minutes per party. Guests aged 21 and older must present a photo ID when purchasing alcohol and are limited to two drinks.

Disney first announced The Beak and Barrel in September 2023, and the attraction opens to guests on August 29. Booking early is advised, as this is poised to become a popular, lore-rich option for adults looking to experience Disney’s interpretation of the Pirates universe in a new way.

Summary: The Beak and Barrel brings a Pirates of the Caribbean–themed tavern to Magic Kingdom, offering a skull-shaped bar, richly themed rooms, and immersive storytelling, with a 45-minute dining experience and a two-drink limit for guests 21+. Reservations are open now in anticipation of the August 29 opening.
