Amazon MGM Studios has announced that “The Accountant 2,” featuring Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal, will be available for global streaming on Prime Video starting Thursday, June 5. This follows the film’s successful theatrical release in April, where it earned over $100 million worldwide. The sequel, which premiered to critical acclaim at SXSW, also secured the Headliner Audience Award at the festival.
Directed by Gavin O’Connor, “The Accountant 2” continues the story of Christian Wolff, portrayed by Affleck, who is known for solving complex problems. The plot thickens when an old acquaintance is found murdered, leaving behind a mysterious message urging Wolff to “find the accountant.” This prompts him to team up with his estranged and dangerous brother, Brax (Bernthal), and U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) to uncover a deadly conspiracy. As they delve deeper, they suddenly find themselves at odds with a ruthless network of assassins determined to keep their secrets hidden.
The film also stars Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, and J.K. Simmons, with the screenplay written by Bill Dubuque. Affleck, along with Lynette Howell Taylor and Mark Williams, produced the project, which was developed under the banner of Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity after securing the sequel rights from Warner Bros.
