The No. 19 Texas Tech women’s basketball team faced a disappointing defeat on the road against BYU, with a final score of 73-61. This loss marks the second consecutive setback for the Lady Raiders, who had started their season at an impressive 19-0.

In a game that highlighted ongoing struggles for the team, Texas Tech (19-2, 6-2) shot just 33.3% from the field, managing to sink 19 out of 57 attempts. Additionally, they committed a staggering 21 turnovers, which BYU (15-4, 4-3) capitalized on for 24 points. The Lady Raiders found themselves trailing by eight heading into the final quarter, where they further faltered, shooting only 3 of 16 (18.8%). BYU opened the fourth period with an 11-0 run, solidifying their lead and closing the door on any hopes of a Texas Tech comeback.

Snudda Collins led the scoring for Tech, finishing with 17 points on 5 of 12 shooting. Bailey Maupin contributed 11 points but struggled with a 4 of 14 shooting performance. Also, Jalynn Bristow added nine points but had a tough night, shooting 3 of 15. The team’s performance marked a low point in their scoring, tying for the second-lowest output of the season, previously seen in their narrow win against Baylor.

The Lady Raiders will look to bounce back this Saturday against Utah (14-5, 5-2), who recently secured a victory over Houston. The game presents an opportunity for Texas Tech to regroup and regain their momentum after two difficult outings.

As the team continues its Big 12 campaign, maintaining focus and improving their offensive execution will be crucial in the upcoming matchups. Fans remain hopeful that Texas Tech can transform this challenging phase into a learning experience and return to their winning ways.
