A Rockwall, Texas mother, Natalie Sorrells, has been sentenced to five years in prison for sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy who was a friend of her son. The 44-year-old real estate agent was found guilty of multiple counts of indecency with a child after incidents of inappropriate contact came to light.
The allegations against Sorrells emerged during a forensic interview conducted at the Rockwall Children’s Advocacy Center, where the victim detailed uncomfortable encounters since April 2023. He recounted incidents of inappropriate touching, including one episode that occurred in a car after she picked him up from a football game, and another occurrence during a party for her son. The child also reported that Sorrells provided alcohol and tobacco to him and other young friends on various occasions.
Concerns were raised when the child’s mother discovered deleted text messages on her son’s phone that contained inappropriate language, including Sorrells referring to the boy as “babe.” This discovery prompted further discussions, leading to the victim confiding in his mother about the inappropriate touching.
Arrested in February, Sorrells was ultimately sentenced on two counts of indecency with a child, receiving 30 months for each count to be served consecutively. Additionally, she faces a $10,000 fine. It’s important to note that while Sorrells had initially posted bond, her conviction brings attention to the serious issue of child safety in community settings. While this case highlights the challenges faced in protecting vulnerable youth, it is a reminder of the essential role of reporting and advocacy in preventing such incidents in the future.
