Texas A&M Declares Dominance: A 41-10 Blowout Over Missouri

COLLEGE STATION — No. 21 Texas A&M (5-1, 3-0) showcased their dominance over No. 9 Missouri (4-1, 1-1) with a commanding 41-10 victory on Saturday at Kyle Field. What was anticipated to be a close contest between two ranked SEC teams turned into a display of strength by the Aggies.

Quarterback Conner Weigman, making his first start since Week 2, seamlessly stepped back into the game. The Aggies’ offense thrived, executing big plays and methodical drives that overwhelmed the Tigers.

Running back Le’Veon Moss was a standout, amassing 138 yards and scoring three touchdowns, helping A&M overpower Missouri’s defensive line in the ground game.

Missouri attempted to threaten near the end zone in the final moments but had to settle for a field goal with just eight seconds remaining. This match marked the first complete performance for the Aggies in 2024, as they maintained control throughout.

“I was proud of their will to continue to play. … That is a step we needed to take where in other games we didn’t finish the way we wanted to,” said A&M head coach Mike Elko.

The Aggies outmatched the Tigers significantly in total yardage, amassing 512 yards to Missouri’s 254, with 276 of those on the ground.

“I told you all at my opening press conference that we want to be a blue-collar program,” Elko noted. “The effort is starting to reflect that.”

With five consecutive wins, Texas A&M heads into a bye week, showcasing a team that has grown since their opening-week loss to Notre Dame.

“We are in a growth mindset … we are trying to improve every single day,” Elko stated. “We didn’t flinch after the setback against Notre Dame.”

Moss emphasized the crucial role of Weigman’s passing ability in their success on the field. “The passing game opened up the running game tremendously,” he said.

Defensive lineman Nic Scourton praised Weigman’s resilience during the recovery process. “(He) never flinched. He was always in the training room working on getting his shoulder back,” Scourton remarked. “He never let any of the negativity get to him.”

Weigman finished the game completing 18 of 22 passes for 276 yards, along with 33 rushing yards, managing the game well and adhering to the offense’s rhythm.

After a critical fourth down stop by the Aggies’ defense, Weigman started strong, leading a successful first possession. His accurate timing and the effective running game quickly established a lead. The eight-play, 60-yard drive culminated with Amari Daniels scoring the game’s first touchdown from one yard out, making it 7-0.

A&M extended their lead with a 44-yard field goal by kicker Randy Bond on their next drive.

The Aggies added two more touchdowns in the first half, taking a substantial 24-point lead. The first came from an eight-play, 65-yard drive, ending with Daniels scoring his second touchdown from another yard out.

Moss followed up with a 1-yard touchdown run, further surprising Missouri as A&M built their lead to 24.

The running game dominated the first half, contributing to three touchdowns, two by Daniels and one by Moss. Weigman led the charge, completing 15 of 19 passes for 193 yards.

Texas A&M’s defense was aggressive, recording six sacks and making key stops, which restricted Missouri playmakers Luther Burden III and Theo Wease Jr. to just three receptions combined.

Looking ahead, No. 21 Texas A&M will enjoy a bye week before preparing for a matchup against Mississippi State in two weeks.
