The Houston Texans have dismissed speculation surrounding a trade involving their quarterback C.J. Stroud; however, they have confirmed a deal that will see offensive lineman Tytus Howard moving to the Cleveland Browns when the new league year starts next month.

Sources indicate that the Texans will exchange Howard for a fifth-round draft pick from Cleveland. This trade comes as Howard is entering the last year of his contract, where he was set to earn $18 million in salary and bonuses, reflecting a cap hit of nearly $28 million. As part of the agreement, Howard is expected to receive a three-year contract extension worth $63 million.

During the previous season, Howard was a starter at left guard for the Texans and had experience playing right tackle earlier in his career. The Browns, who are facing potential free agency for six of their offensive linemen, view the addition of Howard as a substantial step towards reshaping their offensive line.

This strategic move could enhance the Browns’ offensive capabilities, enabling them to build a more robust line as they prepare for upcoming challenges in the new season. The trade not only reflects Houston’s willingness to optimize their roster but also sets the stage for Cleveland to potentially bolster their performance on the field.
