Texans Dominate Cowboys: A Turning Point in the AFC South?

In a commanding performance, the Houston Texans topped off Week 11 in the NFL by outplaying their Texas rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, with a score of 34-10.

Texas’ Joe Mixon emerged as a standout player, rushing for 109 yards and securing three touchdowns. C.J. Stroud had an impressive outing as well, connecting on 23 of 34 pass attempts for 257 yards.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys struggled offensively. Cooper Rush, filling in for the injured Dak Prescott, managed to complete 32 of 55 passes for 354 yards but faced intense pressure, resulting in five sacks and one interception. The Cowboys only converted five out of 19 attempts on third and fourth downs, which significantly hurt their chances.

The game kicked off with the Texans dominating early, executing a six-play, 77-yard drive that put them up 7-0. The Cowboys faltered on their first possession, failing to secure a first down after faking a punt. Following a series of turnovers from both teams, Houston settled into rhythm and pushed their lead to 14-7 after a steady 10-play, 63-yard drive leading to another Mixon touchdown.

Dallas briefly rallied with a 64-yard touchdown pass to KeVontae Turpin, closing the gap to 14-7, but both teams added field goals before halftime, leaving the Texans ahead 17-10 at the break.

In the second half, Houston took control, scoring 17 unanswered points that included a notable fumble return touchdown and another score from Mixon late in the fourth quarter.

This victory broke a two-game losing streak for Houston, positioning them at the top of the AFC South with a two-game lead over the Indianapolis Colts. The Texans will look to continue their momentum in their upcoming matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Conversely, the Cowboys are currently in a rough patch, suffering their fourth consecutive loss. They will aim to turn their fortunes around in their next game against the Washington Commanders.

This decisive victory for the Texans not only underscores their offensive strengths but also puts them firmly on the path toward a promising season. With a solid showing against the Cowboys and a favorable position in their division, Houston fans have plenty to be optimistic about moving forward.
