In a dazzling performance, the Texans’ defense dominated in their preseason matchup against the New York Giants on Saturday. Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans expressed pride in his team’s ability to force five turnovers, stating, “For us to go out today and take the ball away five times, that’s big time.”

The defense set the tone early, led by safety Jalen Pitre, who ignited the action with a pick-six midway through the first quarter. Shortly after, cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. intercepted a pass at the goal line, further showcasing the Texans’ defensive prowess. The team capitalized on opportunities, converting one takeaway into a score while preventing another Giants drive from reaching the end zone.

“It’s impressive, but that’s what we do in practice. Coach DeMeco, the swarm, that’s how we get coached,” Stingley noted, emphasizing the effectiveness of the team’s training regimen.

Even with the backup players on the field, the Texans maintained their intensity, forcing turnovers on the Giants’ final three possessions. Ryans highlighted the importance of their practice efforts, saying, “We talk about it so much, and to see it come to life, it’s like confirmation that our coaching points and what we ask guys to do.”

The rigorous training against talented receivers like Tank Dell, CeeDee Lamb, and Nico Collins has proved invaluable for the defenders. “It’s crazy going against them at practice every day. They helped a lot,” Stingley added.

As the Texans prepare to wrap up the preseason, they will engage in a joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday, followed by their final preseason game against the Rams on Saturday at noon. Fans can catch the game live on ABC13, marking the conclusion of the Texans’ preseason schedule.
