Televerse Festival: A New Era for TV Lovers and Creators!

The Television Academy is set to launch a new festival called Televerse from August 14 to 16 at L.A. Live’s JW Marriott, right across from the venue for the upcoming 77th Emmy Awards. This event aims to cater to a diverse audience of television enthusiasts, industry professionals, and creators alike.

Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego expressed that with the growing scope and global impact of television, there was an opportunity to create a unique space where members, creators, and fans could come together. Maury McIntyre, the Academy’s President and CEO, emphasized their unique position, stating that with about 30,000 members involved in the industry’s creation, they can expertly curate a festival experience unlike any other.

The festival will feature a rich program, including 26 panels curated by the academy, Emmy-nominated presentations, sneak peek screenings, and a dedicated exhibit space for various activations and vendors. Organizers hope that Televerse becomes an annual highlight, attracting industry professionals and fans alike.

Nostalgia will play a role in the festival with reunions of beloved shows like “Bones” and “Queer as Folk.” However, the event will also delve into critical discussions around television production, technology, and crafts, offering a behind-the-scenes look broader than what’s typically available at existing festivals.

Highlight events include an opening-night conversation with top executives from renowned networks such as NBC/Peacock and FX, as well as the 27th induction ceremony for the Academy’s Hall of Fame, featuring talents like Viola Davis and Conan O’Brien. Notably, Henry Winkler will conduct an acting class, promising attendees a unique and impactful experience.

The festival will also provide sessions open to public attendees, with tickets starting at $30, as well as deeper engagements for Academy members. Programming includes sessions on various aspects of television production, from writing techniques to live sports coverage.

In addition to showcasing talent and expertise, Televerse seeks to create new avenues for revenue, ensuring the Academy’s sustainability and ongoing engagement with audiences beyond the Emmy Awards.

Organizers believe that the upcoming festival will not only celebrate television but foster meaningful connections between new and experienced industry professionals, enriching the television landscape.
