Telecom Fiji Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to community health by donating $15,000 to the Fiji Cancer Society (FCS) during a Pinktober morning tea event held at the Telecom Labasa Exchange. This generous contribution underscores the company’s dedication to heightening cancer awareness and promoting early detection.
The event featured heartfelt contributions from Telecom Fiji staff, who not only pledged their financial support but also participated in fundraising activities aimed at bolstering this important cause. Chief Executive Officer Charles Goundar commended the FCS for its relentless work in raising awareness and encouraging timely action in the fight against cancer. He urged employees to promote these vital messages within their families and across their communities.
Highlighting the company’s ethos of community engagement, Goundar stated that Telecom Fiji is committed to supporting initiatives that advance wellness and assist those battling cancer. Field Services North Manager Aporosa Vualiku expressed pride in observing employees actively convert awareness into action, reflecting the firm’s belief in the importance of community solidarity in addressing the challenges posed by cancer.
The morning tea also served as a platform for cancer survivors, including Sereima Lalibuli and oncology nurse Litia Vueti, who shared their poignant stories about the significance of early detection and the strength that comes from community support. This collaboration illustrates how corporate responsibility can provide essential backing to those navigating health-related struggles.
As part of ongoing efforts, Telecom Fiji will also support an upcoming golf tournament organized by the Fiji Cancer Society in November, coinciding with Movember. This initiative aims to promote men’s health issues such as prostate and testicular cancer, along with mental health awareness.
The collective efforts of Telecom Fiji and the Fiji Cancer Society serve as a beacon of hope, showcasing the power of community and corporate partnerships in the fight against cancer. Through their generous contributions and steadfast support, they aim to foster a community where no one faces the battle against cancer alone.
