Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, has begun a three-month sentence at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn. Notably, this facility also houses controversial figures like Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and accused CEO killer Luigi Mangione.

Upon reporting to the MDC on Tuesday, Tekashi expressed an eagerness for potential interactions with high-profile inmates, specifically mentioning Maduro and Mangione. He humorously remarked, “I want to dance with Maduro!” referring to the Venezuelan leader’s well-known dance moves that have captured public attention. Tekashi also expressed a desire to invite Maduro for a game of cards and hopes to share his experiences with Mangione, particularly the support he receives from fans on social media.

The rapper’s imprisonment follows his guilty plea last year for violating probation from a New York gang case. This included an assault on a man at a mall in Florida and possession of drugs at his residence. Tekashi will serve his sentence in a facility that holds a notorious roster of inmates, including figures such as Ghislaine Maxwell, R. Kelly, and Sean “Diddy” Combs.

In a recent Instagram video, Tekashi commented on his past experiences in jail, noting encounters with various prominent individuals including the president of Honduras and FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried. He jestingly declared, “Now I’m about to go meet the president of Venezuela,” indicating his penchant for meeting influential figures while incarcerated.

The rapper’s attorney confirmed that he would likely be kept separate from the general prison population, possibly alongside Maduro and Mangione. This aligns with the MDC’s protocol for managing high-profile inmates.

Maduro, captured during a U.S. military operation, is currently facing federal narco-terrorism charges along with his wife, both of whom assert they were “kidnapped” and maintain their innocence. They are expected to remain detained for the foreseeable future. Similarly, Mangione, who faces trial for the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has also pleaded not guilty, awaiting a trial date that has not yet been set.

While Tekashi’s time in the MDC may bring unexpected opportunities for interaction, the real question remains whether he will actually engage with Maduro or Mangione, as the details of his detention unfold.
