“Ted Lasso” is moving towards a potential Season 4, as confirmed by Variety.
Warner Bros. Television has renewed options for original cast members Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift. Jason Sudeikis is reportedly involved in the upcoming season as an executive producer. However, Warner Bros. TV has not commented on the matter.
Waddingham, Goldstein, and Swift’s involvement is clear since they are members of U.K. Equity and have different contractual terms from the U.S. SAG-AFTRA cast, with negotiations for the latter set to follow.
Discussions about a “Ted Lasso” revival have been ongoing since the show concluded its run. In January, Channing Dungey, CEO of Warner Bros. TV, hinted at the possibility of the series continuing after its Season 3 finale, which aired last year. “If you watched the finale, there’s a little bit of a door that could be kicked back open if needed,” Dungey stated. “There is still a lot of love for ‘Ted Lasso’ and enthusiasm from Apple for the series. If the opportunity arises, we’d be excited to make more. Conversations are ongoing, but nothing is official yet.”
The series stars Sudeikis as the titular character, a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to lead a professional soccer team in England despite lacking experience in the sport. The cast also includes Waddingham, Goldstein, Swift, Brendan Hunt, Juno Temple, and Phil Dunster.
“Ted Lasso” was developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Hunt, and Joe Kelly, based on concepts and characters from NBC Sports. The news of a potential revival was first reported by Deadline.
