The beloved TV series “Ted Lasso” continues to inspire fans to dream big, but casting calls aimed at those eager to join the show have raised some concerns. Recently, a casting call notice has been making the rounds on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, indicating that filming for Season 4 will take place on July 22 and 23 in Blue Springs and Lee’s Summit.

The announcement, posted by the agency Nine9.com, invites hopefuls to apply for roles as extras or stand-ins. However, many who showed interest found themselves redirected to a lengthy sales pitch instead of an actual casting opportunity, as the application process leads to a conference call touting membership that comes with a subscription fee.

Local actors have expressed frustration with the process. One actor stated, “We wasted 30 minutes of our time,” while another participant described the experience as a “Total scam.” This sentiment is echoed in various online comments from individuals attempting to cancel their Nine9.com subscriptions after feeling misled during the call.

The genuine casting for “Ted Lasso” in the area is being coordinated by Alessi Hartigan Casting Missouri, which had previously posted a call for extras back in June. Local talent agent Kathy Hanis noted that the excitement surrounding the show is palpable, with many aspiring actors eager to seize the opportunity, although it can sometimes lead them to overlook potential pitfalls.

While Nine9.com does offer a $99 introductory fee, the lack of guarantees for actual roles raises red flags for those considering participation.

As the enthusiasm for “Ted Lasso” remains high, it’s essential for interested actors to stay cautious and seek legitimate opportunities, as the world of casting can be filled with both promises and pitfalls.
