Tech and Business Leaders Unite Against Political Violence

Leaders in the tech and business sectors have condemned the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, which occurred Saturday at a rally in Pennsylvania.

The shooting incident, which left one spectator dead and two others critically injured, saw a suspect identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks also losing his life, according to the Secret Service. Despite the attack, Trump is expected to speak at the Republican National Convention this week in Milwaukee.

Following the incident, top executives from companies such as Apple, Microsoft, and Meta spoke out against the violence, stressing that political violence is a direct threat to democracy in the U.S.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg expressed his concern, stating, “Praying for a quick recovery for President Trump. This is such a sad day for our country. Political violence undermines democracy and must always be condemned.”

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook and Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella also condemned the violence. Nadella shared, “There is simply no place for any type of violence in our society. Sending my best wishes to President Trump for a speedy recovery and to all those impacted by today’s horrific event,” on X.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Tesla CEO Elon Musk likewise expressed their denunciations of the assassination attempt, with Musk stating, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”
