Tech and Business Leaders Unite Against Political Violence

Condemnations from tech and business leaders surged following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

The leaders collectively emphasized that political violence poses a severe threat to U.S. democracy.

Trump remains safe after the shooting, which resulted in the death of one spectator and left two others critically injured. The alleged shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, is also deceased, as reported by the Secret Service. Trump is still expected to speak at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee this week.

Following the attack, prominent executives from global corporations, including Apple, Microsoft, and Meta, voiced their condemnation of the violence.

“Praying for a quick recovery for President Trump,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote on Threads. “This is such a sad day for our country. Political violence undermines democracy and must always be condemned.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook also condemned the violence. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella shared similar sentiments: “There is simply no place for any type of violence in our society. Sending my best wishes to President Trump for a speedy recovery and to all those impacted by today’s horrific event,” he posted on X.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Tesla CEO Elon Musk also expressed their condemnations for the assassination attempt, with Musk stating after the attack: “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”
