The recent Golf Fiji Charity tournament at Denarau Golf Club was a resounding success, generating funds to support Golf Fiji’s preparations for upcoming regional and international competitions. The event celebrated Team Maui Bay, who emerged as the men’s champions, demonstrating impressive skill and teamwork.

The Coral Coast team, featuring players Wayne Down, Noah Down, Jeral Sharma, and Ajnil Singh, achieved victory with a remarkable score of 55.3. They were closely followed by Team Stiff Shaft, who secured second place with a score of 57.1, while Team PTRJ claimed the third position.

Wayne Down credited their win to strong collaboration and determination, stating, “We got lucky, made some big shots, and we’re glad everything came together.” This sentiment of teamwork resonated throughout the tournament, highlighting the communal spirit that underpins sporting events.

The primary aim of the tournament was to raise $20,000 for the national team’s training and competition costs. Golf Fiji’s president, Amitesh Chandra, reported that by the end of the tournament, $10,000 had already been raised, showcasing significant community support for the development of local sports.
