LaDainian Tomlinson made a significant impact at Texas Christian University (TCU) by donating his gold Pro Football Hall of Fame jacket to the Horned Frogs football facilities. During a recent gathering with the 2025 Horned Frogs team, Tomlinson, a TCU legend and NFL MVP, shared his journey and the legacy of football at the university.
In an enthusiastic atmosphere, TCU strength coach Kaz Kazadi prompted Tomlinson by shouting “Say it again,” as he introduced his illustrious accomplishments. Tomlinson reflects on his humble beginnings at TCU, where he and his teammates laid the groundwork for what the football program has become today. “We kind of laid the foundation and the groundwork of what TCU Football has become,” Tomlinson noted, highlighting the recent achievements of the team under Coach Sonny Dykes, including their National Championship game appearance.
These accomplishments build on the rich history of TCU football that Tomlinson was part of, starting with their 1998 Sun Bowl victory against USC. The current TCU team has made a name for itself with impressive performances, including reaching the College Football Playoff as the first Texas football team to do so while competing in a Power 5 conference.
Tomlinson’s donation came amid significant enhancements to TCU’s athletic facilities, which include state-of-the-art training and performance centers. He expressed pride in serving as a Trustee, committed to leaving a lasting legacy for the university. “It’s a humbling experience to think where I’ve come from to presenting this gold jacket,” he remarked.
Former head coach Dennis Franchione reminisced about Tomlinson, emphasizing his determination and ability to rise to challenges, a characteristic that resonates with current players like sophomore running back Jeremy Payne.
