Taylor Swift dominated the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, claiming seven honors, including Video of the Year for her collaboration “Fortnight” with Post Malone.
Sabrina Carpenter won the Moon Person for Song of the Year, while Chappell Roan was recognized as the Best New Artist during the event. Other notable winners included SZA, Eminem, Lenny Kravitz, Blackpink’s Lisa, and Tyla. Taylor Swift entered the night as the leading nominee with 12 nominations, with fans voting for the winners.
The event was hosted by Megan Thee Stallion, who also performed during the ceremony, which took place live at UBS Arena in New York.
Katy Perry received the Video Vanguard Award this year and delivered a medley of her popular songs. Additional performers included Anitta featuring Fat Joe, DJ Khaled, and Tiago PZK, along with Eminem, LL Cool J, Benson Boone, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz with Quavo and Doechii, Karol G, Blackpink’s Lisa, Rauw Alejandro, Shawn Mendes, and Sabrina Carpenter.
In honor of the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, MTV collaborated with the nonprofit 9/11 Day, which spearheads the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, and Tuesday’s Children, which supports families affected by the tragedy.
The VMAs were produced by Bruce Gillmer and Jesse Ignjatovic of Den of Thieves, with Barb Bialkowski serving as co-executive producer. Production was overseen by Alicia Portugal and Jackie Barba, while celebrity talent was managed by Wendy Plaut and music talent by Lisa Lauricella.
The awards show was broadcast live across multiple channels, including BET, BET Her, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV, MTV2, Nick at Nite, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, VH1, and Univision.
