Taylor Sheridan, the co-creator of the successful series “Landman,” is set to leave Paramount, although cast members have expressed confidence that production will continue without disruption. The show, which is inspired by Christian Wallace’s podcast “Boomtown,” is returning for its second season with veteran actor Billy Bob Thornton starring as Tommy Norris, a high-stakes oil negotiator navigating the complexities of corporate pressure and family chaos in Odessa, Texas.

As the Vice President of operations at M-Tex Oil, Norris’s character faces daunting challenges with the drilling rights while balancing turbulent personal relationships, particularly with his ex-wife Angela, portrayed by Ali Larter, and their two children, Cooper (played by Jacob Lofland) and Ainsley (played by Michelle Randolph). Additionally, viewers will be introduced to Cami Miller, played by Demi Moore, who adds further depth to Norris’s personal life.

Sheridan’s decision to depart is a notable shift for Paramount, as he will be signing a new five-year film, TV, and streaming deal with NBCUniversal, effective January 1, 2029. Despite this change, Thornton reassured fans that the foundation of the series remains intact. “I think the shows that are at Paramount stay at Paramount, so I don’t think those are affected,” Thornton remarked to The Hollywood Reporter. “Taylor is a brilliant guy, and I’m sure wherever he goes, whatever he does is gonna be successful.”

Sam Elliott, who joins the cast as Norris’ father T.L. in the second season, echoed these sentiments, assuring that the series will continue smoothly. He stated, “It’s not gonna impact the future of this series because everything that Taylor had at Paramount is gonna stay at Paramount.”

The highly anticipated second season of “Landman” is set to premiere on November 16, 2025, with episodes airing every Sunday at 3:00 a.m. Eastern Time on Paramount+. Fans can look forward to exploring deeper narratives as the series unfolds, with episode titles revealing intriguing themes and conflicts.

With production rolling forward and the cast remaining positive, “Landman” aims to capture the attention of its audience once again, promising a mix of tension, drama, and compelling storytelling in the Oildale backdrop.
