Four individuals hailing from South America, along with two local residents, are currently being held by police following their arrest linked to the discovery of over 100 bags of cocaine. Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed that the suspects have yet to be formally charged as investigations are still ongoing.

The arrests occurred during a drug raid conducted near Vatia Wharf in Tavua on Friday morning. Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu reported that the operation was executed by personnel from the Criminal Investigations Division (CID), the Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID), and the Western Division Taskforce. He highlighted that the success of this operation stems from a collaborative effort between local and international law enforcement agencies.

This case brings to light the continued commitment to tackling drug trafficking, underscoring the critical role of teamwork in addressing such a pressing issue.
