Quentin Tarantino’s renowned cinema will soon treat fans to a unique experience as Lionsgate prepares to release “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair” in theaters on December 5, 2025. This version combines both parts of the original “Kill Bill” films into a single, epic presentation that showcases Tarantino’s initial vision for the story.
Previously screened only at Tarantino’s Vista Theater, this 258-minute film will feature screenings in 70mm and 35mm formats across select markets. Notably, “The Whole Bloody Affair” includes a 7½-minute anime sequence that was absent from the original releases and alters the narrative structure by removing the cliffhanger from Vol. 1 and the recap introduced in Vol. 2. Critics have praised the film as not only potentially Tarantino’s best work but also a remarkable cinematic experience.
In his statement, Tarantino expressed his excitement about allowing fans to witness “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair” as he originally intended: “The best way to see ‘Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair’ is at a movie theater in glorious 70mm or 35mm. Blood and guts on a big screen in all its glory!” His narrative style has been compared to the works of Sergio Leone, with the film weaving together complex themes amidst straightforward storytelling.
For those unfamiliar with “Kill Bill,” the film follows The Bride, portrayed by Uma Thurman, an assassin seeking revenge on her former boss and lover after being betrayed and left for dead at her wedding. The stellar cast includes Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, Gordon Liu, Michael Parks, and David Carradine as “Bill.”
This release coincides with anticipation surrounding Tarantino’s potential final film, which would mark his tenth feature. Fans also look forward to another installment featuring Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth, directed by David Fincher based on Tarantino’s script, as well as a forthcoming book series delving into the behind-the-scenes of Tarantino’s films.
Moreover, given Lionsgate’s distribution rights to Tarantino’s previous works, there may be more beloved classics from the acclaimed director seeing special re-releases in theaters in the future, providing fans with ongoing opportunities to enjoy his unique storytelling on the big screen.
