Quentin Tarantino has collaborated with journalist and author Jay Glennie, along with publisher Insight Editions, to create a series of comprehensive making-of books detailing all ten of his films. The first book, titled The Making of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, is set for release on November 11.

This extensive 400-page coffee table book features an introduction from Tarantino himself and showcases a wealth of behind-the-scenes content, including hundreds of photographs, production memos, sketches of costumes and production design, and even exclusive reproductions of letters and documents from the studio. Additionally, the book features new interviews with the film’s main cast and crew members such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie, among others.

This collection not only chronicles the monumental effort that went into making the 2019 film but also serves as the official record of its journey from concept to its premiere, celebrating its ten Academy Award nominations and the two Oscars it ultimately won. The film, set against the backdrop of 1969 Los Angeles, offers a poignant look at the struggles of a former Western star and his stunt double as they navigate a rapidly changing Hollywood landscape.

Future installments in this making-of series are planned to focus on Tarantino’s films Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, with publication dates scheduled for 2026 and 2027, respectively. This ongoing documentation of Tarantino’s work is highly anticipated and continues to shed light on the complexities of filmmaking and the creative process.

As fans await the first release, there’s a sense of excitement in the air—this series is sure to bring to light the artistic and technical challenges behind some of the most iconic films in cinema today.
