Australia’s Seven Network has officially commissioned Talpa Studios’ innovative quiz show, “Caught in the Middle.” The production will take place at Talpa Studios’ international hub, heralding a significant step for the show’s international rollout. Set to premiere on SBS6 in the Netherlands in January 2026, the specific timing for the Australian version will be revealed at a later date.
Designed by John de Mol’s Talpa Studios, “Caught in the Middle” presents a unique quiz competition where one duo faces off against a hundred opponents. Positioned in the center of a massive LED arena, the pair must strategically answer 15 questions while trying to outwit and eliminate their rivals, who aim to reach the center and seize the €50,000 jackpot.
Sebastian van Barneveld, Director Global Distribution at Talpa Studios, expressed excitement at the show’s international debut in Australia before its home country premiere. He highlighted the collaboration with Eureka Productions and Seven, emphasizing the format’s potential global appeal, reminiscent of their successful show “The Floor.”
Angus Ross, Seven’s Group Managing Director for Television, enthusiastically noted that the introduction of this fresh and unpredictable format aligns perfectly with viewers’ expectations for suspense-filled quiz shows.
Rikkie Proost, CEO of Eureka Productions, shared his enthusiasm for collaborating with Talpa Studios once again, emphasizing that “Caught in the Middle” elevates quiz show entertainment with its blend of strategy, humor, and heartfelt moments, making it ideal for family viewing on a grand scale.
This collaboration marks an exciting new chapter for quiz show formats, with hopes that “Caught in the Middle” will capture audiences both in Australia and beyond.
