TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Following an unusually warm weekend, colder temperatures are set to return to the region as winter approaches.
On Sunday, residents awoke to a foggy morning across the Big Bend and South Georgia, with a Dense Fog Advisory in effect until 10 a.m., urging drivers to exercise caution on the roads. The clouds are expected to linger for much of the morning, but by afternoon, there will be some breaks in the clouds allowing for a partially sunny afternoon. High temperatures will reach the mid-70s, with a slight chance of a stray sprinkle, though most areas are expected to remain dry as the weekend comes to a close.
As night falls, the mild weather continues with lows settling in the upper-50s to low-60s under a partly cloudy sky.
Looking ahead, a cold front is on track to move through the area on Monday, bringing with it spotty showers during the morning and afternoon hours. Rainfall amounts are projected to be light, but temperatures will take a noticeable dip once the front passes. Highs on Monday will peak in the low-to-mid-70s before cooler air settles in, pushing overnight lows down into the low and mid-30s with skies clearing overnight.
The extended forecast indicates a chilly start to the new year. Tuesday is expected to be dry and breezy, with daytime highs ranging from the upper-40s to low-50s and nighttime lows dropping into the mid and upper-20s. Residents are advised to take precautions to safeguard their families, pets, plants, and plumbing as temperatures plummet.
Looking forward to New Year’s Eve, the forecast suggests a dry and mostly sunny day, with expected highs around the mid-50s and lows in the low-30s.
