Rural and interior communities in Fiji are set to benefit from an innovative grocery delivery service called Tala Leka, launched by Newworld IGA in collaboration with logistics company Unravel Viti. This initiative aims to enhance grocery accessibility for families residing in areas with limited transportation and retail services.
The service was initially introduced in Naitasiri and Tailevu, with plans for expansion to additional rural areas in the near future. The Director of Unravel Viti, Taraiasi Wara, highlighted that Tala Leka is designed to alleviate the challenges faced by families living far from urban centers. He stated, “Through Tala Leka, we want to ensure that all Fijians, regardless of location, can access quality products conveniently and affordably.”
Sameer Patel, the Head of Merchandise, Marketing, and Wholesale at Newworld IGA, emphasized the service’s mission to bridge the accessibility gaps experienced by rural communities. He asserted, “Tala Leka is about bringing essential goods closer to communities that often have limited access to regular delivery services.” Customers can seamlessly place orders online and select the rural delivery option for direct access to their essential needs.
This initiative not only represents a significant step towards improving service delivery in Fiji’s remote areas but also underscores the growing cooperation among local businesses as they work together to enhance connectivity and accessibility for underserved regions. With such efforts underway, there is a hopeful outlook for the empowerment of rural communities, allowing them to thrive and access necessary products without the challenges that have long hindered them.
Overall, Tala Leka exemplifies a positive development for Fijian society, promising to uplift lives and foster economic growth by ensuring that basic goods are readily available, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for many households in rural Fiji.
