K-1 fighter Takeru (34) announced on Instagram on July 29 that he has married actress Aoi Kawaguchi (26). This surprise announcement has been met with an outpouring of congratulatory messages from various corners of the entertainment and sports industries. Takeru expressed gratitude to his supporters, stating, “I, Takeru Segawa, have decided to marry Aoi Kawaguchi. Having practiced a sport like fighting, which requires strength to go into battle alone since childhood, I have learned through meeting her that fighting for someone else and being supported by someone can make me stronger, both as a person and as a fighter.”
He continued by sharing his aspiration to fully dedicate himself to the sport as a married man, saying, “I want to spend the remaining time of my active fighting career, supported as a couple, and fight without regrets.” Takeru concluded his message by asking for continued support from fans, both for himself and for his new wife.
The announcement garnered congratulations from a wide array of celebrities, including Kenjiro Yamashita, Haruka Kodama, KANA, RENA, Masaaki Noiri, Akemi Darenogare, Nobuaki Kaneko, Maryjun Takahashi, Katsuhiro Akiyama, and legend Keiji Mutoh, highlighting Takeru’s significant standing in both the fighting and entertainment sectors.
Takeru was born on July 29, 1991, in Tottori Prefecture and made his professional debut in 2011 with Krush, achieving remarkable success by winning titles across three different weight classes in K-1. Despite facing a defeat against Tenshin Nasukawa in “THE MATCH 2022,” he has since shifted to the ONE Championship in 2024, engaging in fierce matches, including battles against Superlek and Rodtang. He is also scheduled to participate in the ONE Japan event in November.
Aoi Kawaguchi, born on November 26, 1998, in Hyogo Prefecture, gained attention as the “too cute urban girl” on the Nippon TV variety show “Shiawase! Bonbi Girl.” She became a well-known figure through her appearances in TV shows and commercials, and recently released her first photo book titled “Aoi no Sugao” in 2023.
This union between two talented individuals from different arenas is a promising partnership that inspires fans and followers alike. Their support for each other could foster individual growth and success, bringing a new chapter in both their personal lives and professional careers.
