As early voting for the Super Tuesday primary begins, Texas State Representative James Talarico is launching his “Take Back Texas Tour,” aimed at engaging voters across 12 cities before Election Day. Talarico, a Democrat from Austin, described the tour as a grassroots initiative designed to reclaim power for the working class in a political system he deems compromised by wealthy donors and corrupt officials. “This is not a fight between left and right; it’s about top versus bottom,” he stated. “We’re going everywhere and talking to everyone, not excluding any voter or community. That’s the path to take back Texas.”
The tour is a critical final effort in Talarico’s campaign for the Democratic U.S. Senate primary, where he faces off against U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett from Dallas. The winner of this primary will go on to challenge the Republican nominee in the upcoming November General Election.
Talarico’s itinerary includes stops in key Texas cities on the following dates:
– Tuesday, Feb. 17: Austin
– Saturday, Feb. 21: El Paso
– Sunday, Feb. 22: Lubbock and Midland
– Monday, Feb. 23: Waco
– Tuesday, Feb. 24: Bryan and Tyler
– Wednesday, Feb. 25: Fort Worth
– Thursday, Feb. 26: Dallas
– Friday, Feb. 27: McAllen
– Saturday, Feb. 28: Brownsville
– Sunday, March 1: San Antonio
– Monday, March 2: Houston
– Tuesday, March 3 (Election Day): Round Rock
Meanwhile, incumbent Republican U.S. Senator John Cornyn is also stepping up his campaign efforts in the face of strong competition from Attorney General Ken Paxton. Cornyn has been emphasizing his close alignment with President Donald Trump, highlighting his votes in favor of Trump’s policies and initiatives as part of his appeal to voters. His campaign encourages Texans to take advantage of early voting, claiming it’s the perfect opportunity to support a candidate who champions conservative values and prioritizes Texas interests.
As the political landscape heats up, both Talarico and Cornyn are mobilizing their campaigns, reflecting a spirited push for voter engagement across the state. Early voting is now open, setting the stage for a competitive primary season leading up to November’s General Election.
