Tuesday is designated as National Taco Day, and various national restaurant chains are celebrating with special deals.
Taco Bell is offering $1 tacos starting at 1 p.m. ET, available exclusively through its app. The type of taco that can be purchased for $1 will change each hour. For example, crunchy tacos will be available for $1 at 1 p.m. ET, while double-stacked tacos will be featured at 2 p.m. The promotion is limited to 10,000 tacos offered nationally per hour, concluding with the final deal available during the 10 p.m. ET hour. Unfortunately for customers on the West Coast, they will miss out on the late-night offerings.
Taco John’s is providing reward members with a complimentary beef-stuffed grilled taco with any purchase.
El Pollo Loco has a deal for reward members, allowing them to buy three fire-grilled chicken tacos for just $5.
Baja Fresh is running a buy-one-get-one-free taco or taco combo promotion for app purchases until Friday.

In a notable change, Taco Bell recently advocated for National Taco Day to fall on the first Tuesday of October. Historically, National Taco Day has been celebrated on October 4 each year. However, following Taco John’s relinquishing its exclusive rights to the “Taco Tuesday” trademark, Taco Bell lobbied for the new calendar placement.
“After hearing fans’ callouts on National Taco Day not landing on Taco Tuesday, Taco Bell and National Day Calendar had no other choice but to right this wrong for taco lovers everywhere. Now, with that hurdle cleared, Taco Bell kicks off a month-long celebration every Tuesday in October, starting with one of its biggest Tuesday Drops yet on National Taco Day — $1 tacos for 10 hours on one of the biggest taco holidays of the year, and the best day of the week for tacos,” Taco Bell stated.
