National Taco Day, celebrated on Tuesday, October 1, takes on a new significance this year as Taco Bell has moved the observance to the first Tuesday of October. This change follows an online petition initiated by Taco Bell earlier this year, seeking to cancel the trademark of the phrase “Taco Tuesday,” which was owned by Taco John’s, a chain based in Wyoming, for over thirty years. Previously, National Taco Day was celebrated on October 4 each year.
As the taco, originally from Mexico, continues to inspire countless variations filled with delicious ingredients in both crunchy and soft shells, many restaurants are offering special promotions to mark this occasion.
Taco Bell will celebrate by providing $1 tacos for ten hours to rewards members, with a different taco featured each hour throughout October to honor National Taco Day. The schedule includes:
– 10 a.m. – Crunchy Taco
– 11 a.m. – Double Stacked Taco
– Noon – Chalupa Supreme
– 1 p.m. – Nacho Cheese Doritos® Locos Tacos
– 2 p.m. – Cantina Chicken Crispy Taco
– 3 p.m. – Cantina Chicken Soft Taco
– 4 p.m. – Soft Taco Supreme
– 5 p.m. – Cheesy Gordita Crunch
– 6 p.m. – Crunchy Taco Supreme
– 7 p.m. – Soft Taco
Chuy’s will also celebrate National Taco Day with a special offer, allowing customers to add a ground beef taco — crispy or soft — for just $1 with any dine-in entree purchase on both October 1 and October 4.
Taco Cabana is offering a range of affordable taco deals without any purchase limits, including $1 Bean and Cheese tacos, $2 Ground Beef tacos, and $2 Shredded Chicken Tacos.
At El Pollo Loco, Loco Rewards members can enjoy three fire-grilled chicken tacos for $5, available in-store, on the app, or through the website from October 1 through October 4.
Additionally, Long John Silver’s is offering two fish tacos for $5 at participating locations for a limited time.
