Tabernacle Choir Arrives in Buenos Aires for Songs of Hope Tour, Marking 100 Years of LDS Presence in South America

Buenos Aires, Argentina — A warm welcome greeted members of the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square as they arrived at Ezeiza International Airport on Sunday, August 17, 2025, the fifth stop on their Songs of Hope world tour.

Crowds cheered, waving Argentine flags and holding posters as the choir and orchestra prepared for performances in Argentina, the group’s first visit to the country. The tour, presented in Spanish as Canciones De Esperanza, forms part of a multicity, multiyear series of performances.

The visit also aligns with a milestone for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the region: 100 years of gospel preaching in South America. “We’re an exclamation point in a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ in South America,” said Tabernacle Choir President Michael O. Leavitt as preparations for the Buenos Aires stop proceeded.

What this means for the city and for fans: the concert series underscores a growing cultural and spiritual exchange, bringing together people from Argentina and beyond through music that emphasizes hope and unity.

Summary: The Buenos Aires stop on the Songs of Hope tour marks the choir and orchestra’s first visit to Argentina and a milestone alongside a century of LDS gospel presence in South America, highlighted by a hopeful message from leadership and a warm, nationwide welcome.
