SZA Stays Neutral in Drake-Kendrick Feud, Surprises Tour with Drake Collaboration

SZA recently addressed her position amid the ongoing feud between hip-hop giants Drake and Kendrick Lamar, emphasizing her desire to remain neutral between the two artists. In a candid interview with GQ’s Frazier Tharpe, SZA remarked, “It was something between two grown-ass men, so why would I insert myself between something between two grown-ass men, you know?” She underscored that most people shared her sentiment, stating, “I didn’t really have any stake, per se.”

As an artist signed to Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), SZA expressed her loyalty and connection to Kendrick, while also noting her long-standing friendship with Drake. “Obviously, I love Kendrick. That’s my family. I’ve known Drake for so long and we have a beautiful rapport. And, obviously, it’s always unfortunate when the unfortunate occurs,” she added.

In a display of her collaborative spirit, SZA surprised concert-goers during her co-headlined Dot’s Grand National Tour by performing her collaboration with Drake, “Rich Baby Daddy,” which also features rising star Sexyy Red. She humorously remarked, “Why wouldn’t I? ‘Poetic Justice’ was in the set list… so why wouldn’t I keep ‘Rich Baby Daddy’? I don’t know why I wouldn’t be celebrating some shit that I ate up.”

In other news, Drake’s legal battles continue as he recently revealed plans to appeal a dismissed lawsuit against Universal Music Group regarding Kendrick’s single “Not Like Us.” This lawsuit was thrown out after a judge determined the song’s lyrics were not factual statements, but rather figurative and hyperbolic.

SZA’s ability to maintain her friendships in the industry while navigating complex situations is a testament to her artistry and professionalism, keeping fans hopeful for more collaborations and music from these talented artists.
